Before the launch of the new iPhone products every year, the industry and consumers are most concerned about only a few points: Is there a high Refresh rate of the screen? Does it support fast charging? Has the battery capacity increased?
As Android models gradually move closer to the type-c interface, more and more consumers are turning their attention to the iPhone - "When are you changing the interface
For Apple, maintaining an ecological closed-loop is a necessary operation, and using its own interface is naturally reasonable. But this explanation is not comprehensive, as Apple is not a device that does not use the type-c interface. You see, Apple's ecosystem products such as iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iPad Air have embraced the type-c interface. Why should iPhone be "special"?
Tracing back to history, Apple officially released the lighting interface in 2012 and installed it on the iPhone 5 of that year, which also gave users the first experience of plugging and unplugging power cords in and out. Since then, the lighting interface has become standard on iPhone models, while Android models that support the type-c interface only appeared in 2014 two years later and became popular in 2015.
From the actual user experience and physical characteristics, it seems that today's lighting has fallen behind type-c.
In terms of charging speed, the type-c interface supports the highest 3A current and maximum 100W power, while the lighting interface currently only has a maximum of 20W, which is not a small difference
On the other hand, most type-cs already support 10Gbit/s USB 3.1, and the transmission rate of the lighting interface is still at 5Gbit/s USB 2.0 a few years ago.
Although Apple has made significant progress in wireless earphones, there have been many complaints from Apple fans since the removal of the 3.5mm headphone connector. After all, Lightning does not support analog audio output, and you need to install an adapter to use wired earphones.
But even though the lightning interface has become so "outdated", Apple still seems to have no intention of changing it.
Apple's senior whistleblower, Guo Minghui, pointed out in a recent report that although the industry has taken a big step towards the USB C interface, "Apple will not use it as a replacement for the Lightning connector on the iPhone 13 or any iPhone model for the time being
Apple's reason is that the waterproof performance and safety of the type-c interface are indeed lower than those of lightning and MagSafe wireless charging technology. Admittedly, type-C is flexible and open, which is also a double-edged sword. Once encountering hacker attacks, the scope of influence will be very wide, which is clearly unacceptable to Apple.
Based on our previous reports that the new generation iPhone may eliminate the charging interface and adopt wireless charging directly, Apple's plan may be that although the current main MagSafe is not perfect, the iPhone series may still coexist with the lighting interface for a period of time, and Apple has shown its ambition to skip type-c and directly enter the era of no interface.
