In the past two years, a large number of devices have been upgraded and entered the era of PD fast charging, so the power bank has also begun to layout and enter the PD market. There are now countless faster and smaller products, and I have dozens of such power banks in my hands. Now, I have acquired two more PD power banks, both of which can support multiple different charging protocols and can support PD 20W high-power output. Due to their different functions, their use and price are different, So this article only selects the most functional mobile watch 2-in-1 power bank for a simple evaluation, and another one can refer to this one. In terms of basic performance, everyone is actually similar. If you are interested, you can explore it with me.
For many years, the outer packaging has maintained a fashionable and streamlined style design, and the gift box style appearance has greatly improved the product's consumption level.
The reinforcement design of the inner box is sufficient to stabilize the placement requirements of the power bank, ensuring that the product can be firmly clamped inside the box and not move around.
The entire box of products mainly includes power banks, type-c charging cables, manuals, warranty cards, and storage bags.
At present, the market price of this power bank is over 200 yuan, with a size of 108mm * 55mm * 225mm and a weight of about 400g. The body is much lighter than traditional power banks, and the storage bag configured by the manufacturer can provide good protection when going out.
The overall appearance design of the power bank looks relatively compact, and the whole body is made of black ABS plastic. The front is decorated with laser carved grid texture, which is relatively wear-resistant and anti slip, and it is not easy to leave traces of sweat and fingerprints when held for a long time.
The edges and corners around are designed with rounded corners, and the back is also coated with touch paint, which feels delicate and warm, making it easy to place pockets.
It has built-in Power X technology that is compatible with the vast majority of fast charging protocols on the market and supports the latest PD 3.0 charging protocol. Theoretically, it can provide up to 20W of power output, slightly faster than the traditional 18W fast charging power bank. It can not only meet daily phone charging needs, but also be temporarily used for laptop charging.
The charging output port is also equipped with a type-c interface that supports bidirectional fast charging, which not only reduces the number of interfaces in the product, but also supports high-power self charging function. It only takes 3 hours to fully charge the PD 18W high-speed fast charging head when connected, which is twice as fast as traditional power bank self charging. Temporary charging during travel can also improve usage efficiency.
The design of the product is very friendly to Apple users, and it is true that it is exclusive to Apple. Similar to a white concave panel on the front as a wireless magnetic charging stand, it is specially designed for Apple watches and can fully fit the bottom of the watch. It has a built-in wireless magnetic charging module that supports Apple MFi certification, which can automatically sense the charging needs of the meter and charge itself, fully realizing daily use of charging and discharging.
And there is also a 20cm long Apple MFi cable on the side, and a magnetic suction block is added to the slot of the cable head, making it convenient to store and secure the plug. It is very thoughtful to use when charging.
In terms of battery cell selection, the manufacturer adopts a 10000mAh long life ATL battery cell, which is a battery brand that Apple and Huawei have been using. This special battery cell can maintain around 80% of its battery capacity even after 500 effective charges and discharges, providing a longer lifespan for the power bank. In addition, the built-in circuit supports overcharging protection, over power protection, temperature protection, and other forms of safety protection mechanisms, making the power bank extremely safe in actual use. However, the battery level of the product is still displayed through the old four light mode, and by long pressing the button on the power display light, the power bank can automatically switch to low current charging mode, which is suitable for other electronic products that require low current charging. This consideration is very user-friendly.
So what is the actual usage effect of the product? Because Apple's built-in cable and wireless charging dock need to support MFi authentication in order to power up, we temporarily do not choose to test these two interfaces. We will conduct protocol spoofing testing on the type-c interface, and the results are shown in the following figure. It can be seen that this port is compatible with the vast majority of charging protocols on the market, including the latest PD3.0 charging protocol, showing a maximum support for high-power charging of 25W.
Next, step current testing will be conducted on each interface to see what the maximum output power and current of each port are under actual output of various voltages. The first test is the step current test of the type-c interface at 5V, and the results are shown in the following figure. The visible discharge process has a significant line compensation effect, with a maximum output power of 17.3W and a maximum output current of 3.57A at 5V.
When tested at 9V, there was no obvious line compensation effect during the discharge process, and the maximum discharge power of the port reached 24.0W, with a maximum current of 2.7A.
After entering 12V, the test was conducted and there was no obvious line compensation effect during operation. The maximum discharge power reached 22.7W and the maximum discharge current was 1.9A.
Turn to USB API testing, first test the step current performance of this port at 5V, the discharge process of this port has obvious line compensation effect, and the maximum discharge power is 17.7W, and the maximum discharge current is 3.6A.
At 9V state, there is no visible line compensation effect during the discharge process, and the maximum discharge power reaches 24.1W, with a maximum discharge current of 2.7A.
When entering a 12V voltage, this process has a weak line compensation effect, with a maximum output power of 21.7W and a maximum output current of 1.8A, which basically meets the manufacturer's promotional expectations.
Since the manufacturer only publicized that the Nameplate capacity obtained from the cumulative discharge test of the product was about 6250mAh when the type-c interface was discharged at 5V3A, only the discharge of the type-c two-way interface was tested in this test, and other interfaces can be selectively referred to. First, the type-c interface was tested for 5V3A discharge. The results are as follows. The discharge process of the product was very smooth. The total cumulative discharge time was about 2 hours and 16 minutes, and the discharge voltage was 4.91V. The Nameplate capacity obtained from the test was about 6795mAh, and the total discharge energy was 33.38Wh. According to the official battery total energy of 38.20Wh, the conversion rate of this port under the 5V3A output condition was about 87.38%, and the conversion efficiency was excellent, Fully meet the data advertised by the manufacturer.
Continuing with the 9V2A discharge test, the discharge process was very smooth, with a cumulative total discharge time of about 1 hour and 56 minutes. The total discharge energy was 34.62Wh, the average discharge voltage was 8.98V, and the conversion rate was about 90.63%. The conversion rate was very excellent, fully in line with the manufacturer's promotional requirements.
Next, the test was conducted at 12V1.5A, and the discharge process was very smooth. There was no previous case of other power banks losing power midway, and it seemed that there was a line compensation effect in the middle. The cumulative discharge time was about 1 hour and 51 minutes, and the average discharge voltage was 12.02V. The total cumulative discharge energy was 33.51Wh, and the conversion rate was 87.72%. The conversion effect was very excellent.
And after connecting the PD fast charging head to this port for charging testing, it was found that the product can indeed perform 9V2A high-speed fast charging, with a total charging time of about 3 hours. The charging speed indeed meets the manufacturer's promotional expectations.
However, if only QC fast charging is connected to the charging head, the product can only operate in 5V3A high-speed fast charging mode and cannot achieve 9V2A fast charging mode. The cumulative charging time is 4 hours and 33 minutes.
In practical use, using the type-c interface to charge the Huawei Mate20X, the power bank can enter the FCP fast charging mode to quickly charge the phone, and the charging power is basically maintained at around 16W.
The USB interface can also quickly charge mobile phones with a power of around 14W.
