However, some time ago, good news broke out that an engineering student named Ken Pillonel from abroad had successfully modified the first USB type-c interface iPhone X. It is gratifying that this device not only supports charging function, but also supports data transmission and reversibility.

In late September of this year, Kenny Pi designed and ordered a flexible printed circuit board to convert the long-standing Lightning port of the iPhone into a USB type-c, making digital enthusiasts around the world excited!

As the saying goes, the ideal is very full, the reality is very skinny, and the transformation process is doomed to be not so easy. Kenny Pi said that he has Reverse engineering the Apple C94 connector. However, due to the limited body space of iPhone X, the road to transformation is not easy!

Kenny Pi said that even with the latest released iPhone 13 series, it is severely limited by ordinary Lighting connectors (with a data transfer rate of only USB 2.0), greatly reducing efficiency!

In the final analysis, it is still a matter of profit. WCCFTech pointed out that the fundamental reason why Apple is unwilling to use the USB type-c port on the iPhone is that it can earn huge profits from official/third-party MFi authorized accessory manufacturers.

After completing this transformation, Kenny Pi decided to release the project as open source on GitHub, and he is also auctioning off his first self modified "USB type-c interface iPhone X"!

In terms of charging, USB type-C is superior to Lightning, and the skills and principles of data transmission are all based on SerialCommunication.

In terms of charging communication skills and principles, the USB type-c has a high-power PD charging protocol, which is why the USB type-c interface charger can achieve 120W fast charging. Compared to the lightning interface, it only supports up to 18w PD fast charging, and the charging speed is much slower!

Finally, it must be noted that modifying the iPhone will result in the invalidation of Apple's official warranty service!
